The Power House Poole - News

Hello Power House friends!

Since our May mini-programme it's been a very busy couple of months. While Avril and I have been continuing to set up the hub (with no WiFi or any data signal in the premises) we've also been continuing to deliver community activities and host guests. On top of other organisational needs and fundraising. We'll share more about what we've been up to in another newsletter in August. We’re delighted to see everything progressing well despite the technology issues.

In the meantime, we are recruiting for the next role in our Community Team, a Community Projects Coordinator. If you can help spread the word that would be a great help. Due to capacity and some issues we have been navigating (including the lack of online connection in the hub) we have not advertised the role as widely as we need to.

Therefore, we have extended the closing date to midnight 13th August with interviews 3rd - 5th September.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Annabel Babbington (Bel) to the wider project team. Thanks to BCP Thriving Communities funding through Dorset Community Foundation, we have been able to appoint Bel as our new Cornerstone Patch Gardening Lead. New to Hamworthy - a perfectly timed relocation! - Bel brings a wealth of skills and experience including being a Forest School Practitioner. We'll celebrate her appointment more in our next newsletter.

Bel joining us means we can now open the Patch for more sessions and grow our volunteer base. See the info below for the sessions coming up over the Summer holidays.

We are also looking for more volunteers as we progress the Patch to and through the next stage of installation to make the space more beautiful and accessible as well as bring in more eco features.

Thrive Sessions also continue on Tuesdays 10.30 - 12.30 through the holidays. Children and young people are also welcome. Those under 14 must be supervised by an adult.
