Welcome, Reflection and Prayer             Chris Strain

Chris, as chair welcomed everyone during this Week of Prayer for Unity, read passages from Galatians 2 and 3, pointing out that unity can be seen from Christ living in all of us and our response in faith to Him.  He led the meeting in prayer.

Churches Trail Leaflet    ROTARY  Don Nutt:    don_nutt@hotmail.com

Rotary Club of Poole Bay is doing a project with the Borough of Poole Council and various local clubs and societies to celebrate the existence of the network of footpaths in central Poole.  Among several ideas some additional "trails", such as the well established Cockle trail and the new Poole Trail (launched in January 2012), have been suggested.  A faith trail has been suggested too.

The idea is straightforward - a short note is needed on the most interesting facets of Poole when considering the celebration of faith in Poole today and historically. The information will become an attractive summary incorporating images, a map and text, probably as a folded leaflet in a house-style common to each of the leaflets produced.

The project is due to end in July 2012 and it is imagined that the work on leaflets is to be completed by end June. The Rotary Club is happy to work with anyone producing a leaflet through support in design and delivery of the product itself.

The leaflets are imagined to require enough information to cover two or maybe four sides of A4 paper with text, diagrams and pictures; including a map of the trail itself, incorporating information about interesting "faith" subjects to be found in the area, and some line drawings or photographic reproductions of relevant images. Should more information be collected in preparing the leaflet then this will aslo become part of the product of the project.

As Don Nutt, the club president and project leader points out, there is probably already lots of relevant information about the churches and places of relevance. The task is thus for someone to volunteer to source and collect the various pieces of information together and then to edit them, perhaps in association with the Churches Together group, into what will be a celebration of not only the rights of way but also of faith in Poole.

CHURCHES AGAINST POVERTY  Debt Assistance John McDiarmid    john@poolechristianfellowship.org

John along with Richard Miles, having consulted with the main CAP Office in Bradford, have set up a branch of the Agency in Poole, one of 190 in the country.  John McDiarmid extolled the scheme and  explained the system of referrals. The organisation showed God's heart for the poor, the lost and the local church. The greatest problem the poor had was debt.   Please pray, refer those who might be helped to CAP, and think if there was anyone who might help with the work, in Poole in its very early stages.    Leaflets and more information from John

Churches Together in Dorset      Val Potter   ctdorset@clara.net

In 2012 there are possibilities for Christian outreach through the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics. For the latter please look at ‘More than Gold' pamphlet & try to send someone to ‘Get Set' 24th March 10.30- 4.00 at All Saints School, Weymouth for ideas.

More will be heard of opportunities in 2012 on 16th March  10.30- 1.00 in Wimborne, at CTD AGM. It is hoped all the churches of CTP will send at least one rep. to that.

For other events please see the current edition of ‘Pilgrim Post in Dorset.'  Copies were handed out.

CHAPLAINCY      Andrew Williams  andrewwilliams1150@gmail.com

The Management Committee had met two days earlier.  More people needed for Training. The Chaplaincy was working well in Poole College and the Civic Centre, but had not yet joined up with the Palliative Care team.

The multi-faith aspect of the work had created tensions. Andrew suggested that it would be good if CTP looked at the pamphlet from CTE on this subject. It was agreed this should be brought to the Core Group in the first instance.
